African Red Rooibos Herbal Tisane
|3g (1 tsp)||200ml||100°C
Rooibos, also commonly known as 'redbush' tea, is endemic to a small area in Western Cape province of South Africa. Consumed by locals, dutch settlers warmed up to it as a replacement to Black tea which at that time was highly prohibitive and difficult to come by. As a fresh leaf, rooibos contains ascorbic acid (Vitamin C); it does not contain caffeine and tannin content is lower compared to black or green teas.
Rooibos tisane has been popular in Europe & UK for a long time but it was only in recent years that it gained popularity in North America and Asia. Purported benefits include its ability to cure headaches, insomnia, asthma, eczema, bone weakness, hypertension, allergies, and premature aging. As it is naturally decaffeinated, it can be drunk anytime of the day.
